Fashion Friday: Spot a Fake Designer Bag

One of my favorite parts of thrifting is finding designer brand items in good condition. Sometimes, especially with accessories, it can be difficult to know if an item is authentic. Flea markets and street fairs often have great knock-offs so buyer beware.

I was out shopping with my friend recently and she came across this Coach purse at the Second Hand store for $30 (Half price for the day). Since the bag was older we decided to check the authenticity and it was real! The bag actually was going on eBay for $75 that day.

Here is the purse:

If you come across a designer bag and you want to make sure it's authentic, examine the bag closely. Do the markings look like they should? Are they facing the right direction? Is the font familiar?

Then, the second thing that you look for is a tag of authenticity on the inside of the bag. On that tag, there will be a serial number that you can look up and find your bag. Most designers have some type of tag of authenticity somewhere so look for it!

**Thank you for reading. Have a great weekend!! Sorry that the pictures are sideways, Blogger is acting up today :(  **

  1. Great info. I don't really care whether a bag is authentic though; I like 'em if they look nice!
