Thrifty Thursday: Thrifted Corner Shelf Refinish

Image
For the past month or so, I have been looking for sturdy corner shelves to hang in my bathroom. The ones that I have come across have been too big, too small, to expensive, or too cheap. Then one day I was at Value Village on half-price Saturday and came across this wooden shelf: $1.75 (Regularly $3.50) It was at that moment that I decided I would skip buying new shelving and refinish this one to put in my bathroom.Since I had some left over spray paint at home, this new shelf would only cost me less than $2.00! Spray Painting Spray Paint with Primer is the best type of spray paint to use, especially on wood. One of my favorite brands is Rust-Oleum for the variety of styles and colors that the brand offers. Since my bathroom is a beach theme, I decided to use plain white on the shelf. After Two Coats My shelf looked like this: I ended up doing three coats in the end just because I will be keeping the shelf in the bathroom. Adding Hardware My shelf did not come

How To Do Wednesday: Keeping Your Car Organized

Image
Spring is just around the corner! With just a little over three weeks until it is official, I have already begun to plan the Spring cleaning that needs to take place in my house. Since the weather is still cold where I live and will be for a while, I am restricted to organizing where I can stay warm. One place that seems to get neglected in my life is my car. To get some ideas for car organization, I headed over to Pinterest, of course, to get some ideas. To stay organized in your car, it is important to keep only what is necessary in your car. Letting your clutter and garbage build up will only encourage you to abandon your car's cleanliness. Don't neglect your car, it is probably the only one that you have. Simple Organization The Glove Box Keep all important documents within an arm's reach. This is also a good place to keep coupons for easy access when going to the store. Two of these tiny expandable file organizers will fit perfectly in any glove box. Or

Trial Tuesday: Using Toothpaste As Spackle

Image
Do you normally keep wall Spackle in your house? I do because I am constantly moving pictures around when I add new decor or move furniture around. Recently I added some pictures to my hallway and needed to fill the holes. So instead of running for the Spackle, I decided to do a trial. I recently came across a Pin showing someone using toothpaste to fill a nail hole and of course I wondered if it worked! If you are curious if it did, keep reading! TRIAL The Hole I used Arm and Hammer with Baking Soda (Toothpaste) to fill the nail hole. RESULTS After One Hour I was impressed! The hole seemed to be filling. After Four Hours When the toothpaste dried completely, the hole was still there. So I added more toothpaste to try and even it out. Four More Hours Later  After 8 hours and two layers of application, I still had a hole. The toothpaste became clear after drying. CONCLUSION : Partial Fail! I think that this method would work if you were fil

Makeup Monday: Best Haircuts For All Hair Lengths- 2015

To the readers who subscribe to my posts: I am sorry for not posting last week! I am not quitting my blog and I will be going back to posting regularly, starting now. I really needed a mental vacation from thinking outside of work but, I am back and I have a TON of great projects in the works for the weeks ahead!  With Spring just around the corner, I am debating on what I want to do with my hair. I need to get a cut badly but I have no idea how I want it cut. In the Fall, I cut my hair into an angled, medium length bob and I loved it. I have maintained the style but I let the length and bangs grow out. Now I am faced with the ultimate question, medium-short again or cut only what is necessary? Bangs or no bangs? Layers? I am lost. Since I have been pinning a ton of cuts on my Hair board on Pinterest, I thought I would share my favorite cuts of 2015. I found a few for each length, along with some bang options. While I wouldn't personally get a really short cut, the ones belo
