Trial Tuesday: 3 Life Hacks Test

Whenever I see clever life hacks online I think to myself, "why didn't I think of that before?", but I never actually question if they work. Since there are thousands of hack posts online, for the next few weeks, I will be testing out various life hacks that I am genuinely curious about.

This week, I wanted to focus on 3 apparel life hacks: cleaning shoes with nail polish remover, ironing with a flat iron, and removing deodorant stains with fabric softener sheets. If you are interested in seeing how these life hacks work out, please continue reading.

1. Removing Deodorant Stains With Dryer Sheets

According to WikiHow, removing deodorant stains with a dryer sheet is as easy as rubbing a clean sheet on the mark. For tougher stains, you should repeat with a clean sheet.

OOPS!!

Use a clean dryer sheet to rub it out

Results: FAIL

The deodorant just rubbed around the shirt. Now there is a white spot that was larger than the original deodorant line. At least my hands smell good now.

2. Ironing With a Flat Iron

I saw a post from 1000lifehacks.com that said you can use a flat iron to get wrinkles out of clothes if you don't have a traditional iron. This was definitely a "duh" moment to me but I still had to test it!

Remember to clean your iron plates before ironing on your clothing!

Results: PASS

While this obviously takes more time than traditional ironing, it works! If you are in a bind and don't have an iron, use a flat iron!

3. Removing Shoe Stains With Nail Polish Remover

BEFORE SHOE
I cannot find the original but I saw this on Pinterest. Simply use nail polish remover and a cotton swab to clean the surface of your shoes. I actually use these shoes to cut the grass, so this test was done with the dirties shoes that I could find. With that being said, I didn't put too much effort into cleaning them so this is the general idea results.

After

Results: PASS

Check out these shoes! There was a layer of mud on them so this did wonders! Note the dirty cotton ball in front of the shoe.

**Thanks for reading! Will you try out any of these hacks? And, do you have more hacks that you would like me to test? Leave it in the comments below. Thanks for reading!**
