Thrifty Thursday: DIY- Decorative Fall Jars
Are you as excited as I am that Fall is almost here? I hope so! Because I love the season so much, in the upcoming weeks I will be posting more Fall decor ideas for the home. This week I am going to show you how to make a fun, fall-style potpourri holder and a flameless candle using mason jars.
What You Will Need:
- 2-Mason Jars
- Gold Glitter
- Potpourri
- Ribbon
- Hot Glue Gun/ Glue
- Elmer's Spray Adhesive
- 1-Flameless tea candles (sold in 2 pack at Dollar Tree)
- Fake leaves
- Pine Cones (optional)

Step 1: Remove the lid from one jar. Spray inside with the spray adhesive.
Step 2: Pour glitter in immediately as the spray adhesive dries quickly.
Step 3: Rotate jar with lid on, on it's side to coat the inside of your mason jar completely. Repeat steps if necessary until you get a heavy coat like this. After each coat, shake out the excess glitter onto a piece of paper and reuse after each spray to conserve your glitter. Seal with one final spray of adhesive. Allow time to dry with the lid off. You will be able to tell when it's dry by touching it. It doesn't take long at all.
Step 4: Cut four leaves from the fake leaf bushel.
Step 5: Pull stems off of the leaves. You will be left with something like this:
Step 6: You will need two leaves for each mason jar. Glue the bigger leaf of the two to the first mason jar. Make one dot at the point of each side of the leaf.
Step 7: Add the second leaf to add dimension to your jar.
Step 8: Repeat steps 6 & 7 with the second jar.
Step 9: Add potpourri and pine cones (optional) to the non-glitter mason jar.
Step 10: Add a ribbon with a bow to the lid.
Potpourri Jars:
At this point, you can add the lid without the top* or add a piece of tulle and you will end up with something that looks like this:
*You can also seal in the freshness and give it as a gift
You can also just fill it up half way with potpourri and add a flameless candle to the top with or without the lid:
