How To Do Wednesday: Becoming an Organized Person

Fall is almost officially here! With the change in season, it's a great time to make a change of life habits as well. The key to change is to have a plan and plans always start with organization.

In the next few weeks, I am going to use How To Do Wednesdays to give organization tips for both life and home. Organizing is one of my favorite things to do and I am so excited to share my tricks with you! To begin my organization series, I am going to provide you with some life organization tips that can apply to all projects that involve organization.

Make lists. Write down the things that you want to accomplish. Writing tasks on paper is a great way to keep your priorities in order. I carry a notebook to organize my thoughts, lists, memos, you name it so that it is easy to access when I need it.

Make schedules. After making your lists, prioritize them. I don't mean a schedule like at 10 AM you will do this, more like mail letters before work or call AT&T before 6pm (The closing time of the business). Make your "to-do"s a priority. And if you can't get to something, push less important things to tomorrow. By doing this, you are showing yourself whether or not what you have planned is too much for one day.

Prepare for the future. I have said it before and I will say it again, get a calendar! Or, use your scheduler in your phone and set an alert. Being a dependable person is an important quality, I think, so remembering to save the date or meet deadlines in a timely manner. It's also a nice way to organize subscriptions or renewals just in case you get a long trial period of something.

Don't avoid. Take care of your business immediately! Do not wait until a deadline to get something done. The more time that you have to get a task done, the better the outcome. This example can be for a project or even a bill that you owe. Do not avoid creditors, your credit is all that you have as an adult if you ever want to own anything that you have to finance.

Always have a plan. Successful people always have a plan! Actors don't win Oscars and quit acting, they continue working and make millions. Never settle, always try to achieve better.
