Makeup Monday: Cheap Makeup Brush Review

Image
I recently purchased new synthetic makeup brushes on Amazon for $9.99 and I could not be happier! These brushes came directly from Amazon (not typical for the price) and were just as advertised. This set is perfect for daily use and you cannot beat the price! This is how the brushes looked when I received them: Below you can see a brush chart with numbers and purposes for each brush. Now, while brushes do have specific purposes, not all faces are the same shape or size so use what works. I like to clean my brushes every few weeks, so I always keep extras. I have not used all of the brushes from the set yet, but I can make a full face out of the ones that I have tried. Face Brushes F80- Liquid foundation F88- Bronzer F86- Loose powder F82- Blush Eyes Brushes P86- Crease (defining) P84- All over, lid P88- Blender Extra Brushes F84 P80 P82 My Opinion: I know that it will not last forever but I will get my money's worth in use; you ...

Makeup Monday: Spring Nail Color Picks- 2015

Image
Is it just me or has this year flown by? This week is the beginning of the last month of Spring. This season, nail polish colors that I see trending are really some of my favorite colors. For this reason, I am dedicating this post to the beautiful, trending nail polish colors of 2015. The pictures from this post are from my Nail board on Pinterest, which will be linked below. While these pictures are showing specific brands/ shades, with a little effort, I believe that duplicates can be found. I personally love the NYC brand, which is what I am wearing in the photo above. This brand costs about $1.75 at Target and offers a pretty wide variety of colors.Other notable brands for under $4.00 are Sally Henson Insta-Dry, retailing for $3.79 at Walmart and Sinful Colors, retailing for $1.99 at Wal-Greens. Without saying much more, here are my picks:   Blue Purple Nude/ Pink Yellow Coral Neon & Metalli...

Makeup Monday: Spring Lips

Image
Happy Monday to you! Hope that you had a wonderful weekend. I know that this is a bit late into the Spring season but I really wanted to do a Spring Lip Pick for 2015, I actually was planning this post for about a month now but I just did not have time to do any swatches. Since there are sooo many products on the market, I am sticking with shade selections instead of naming specific brands. Most of these items are drugstore and can be found at Walmart or Target. I will be doing more makeup reviews in the future, I am really just trying to work out a schedule right now for life/blogging. So without any more explanation, on to the color choices! Rose Toned Lips If you haven't noticed by now, nude pallets are popping up everywhere and from every major drugstore brand. With nude eyes trending this Spring, rose toned lipsticks and glosses are the perfect pair for a great daytime smokey eye look. These colors will add just enough pigment to your lips to brighten your skin, wh...

Makeup Monday: 10 Beauty Mistakes That I Used To Make

Image
Once again, I went awol from my blog and I apologize to my loyal followers. I have had a ton of requests recently and I intend to get to each on in the coming weeks. Honestly, I just really have had a lot going on in my life and I needed to focus on my family for a bit. But again, I am back, I will admit that while I have a ton planned, I just did not have the time to take and upload photos for my post today. So I thought I would do something different this week and stray from providing knowledge to admit some mistakes. Hair 1. Washing too often and using too much shampoo . I used to wash everyday and use a handful of shampoo, which I later learned was actually damaging to your hair. Shampooing too often strips your hair of the oils and nutrients that it needs to maintain a healthy balance. To read more about this, check out my post on keeping   healthy hair  from earlier this year. 2. Not using a heat protectant spray before using hot tools . To reduce breakage, it ...

Makeup Monday: Hair Straightener Beauty Basics

Image
This week, for the last installment of Beauty Basics- Hair Tools, I am bringing you a simple post of how to use a hair straightener. While the hair straightener is probably the easiest tool to use, if not used properly you can really damage your hair. So, for some important tips and tricks, keep reading. If you missed them and are are interested, check out my Curling Iron  and Hot Roller  tutorials after reading this post. My Hair Air-dried while awake. This is a very tame version of my hair.  Directions 1. Apply heat protecting spray and comb your hair. I am currently using Tresemme but there are many different brands. And I little goes a long way. I actually prefer the John Freda Heat Protecting Spray. You are going to make your main part at this point as well. 2. Next you are going to use a clip or hair tie to part your hair in a half-up pony tail. One of the biggest mistakes that people make is skipping this step. You cannot straighten yo...

Makeup Monday: Curling Iron Basics

Image
A few weeks ago I posted a  Hot Roller Tutorial  that was pretty popular on Pinterest. This got me thinking about other simple hair tool tutorials that I could do to follow. To continue with the curly hair theme, this week I will be focusing on how to use a curling iron. This tutorial will stick to basic hair curling, including how to curl your hair toward and away from your face. This method is great to use as a combo if you want a pretty, casual curl. What You Will Need: Curling Iron (barrel size of your choice) Brush Comb Heat Protecting Spray Hair Spray Hair Clips (to separate hair) Directions: Your hair will curl best with unwashed hair. Brush your hair and part it the way you want your hair to fall after being curled. Put the top part of your hair up using your clips. Use heat protecting spray on your sectioned hair. This is the amount of hair that you should be curling at one time. The larger the amount of hair that you curl at once, t...
