Well, it has been one week since I posted on my plans of starting to clean my attic and I have not done that yet. I did put away my Christmas decor and cleaned the house, which reminded me even more how much I need to get organizing in this house! Trial Tuesday: DIY Ice Melt

Image
If you live in a place where it snows regularly, nothing is worse than when you bust your butt shoveling and later realize that you are out of salt for the ground! And if you use special salts, like those safe for dogs' paws, you could be out of luck in getting your salt until the next day if stores are closed. I wanted to find a method online that used items that I would likely have. So, I went to Pinterest and I found this pin: I checked out the website to make sure that it was legitimate and it actually had some great tips for frugal living. Makeup Monday: Drug Store Liquid Eyeliner Review

Image
When doing my eye make-up I tend to wing my eyeliner just about every time. Since I do this look so often, I almost always use a liquid liner to line the top of my eye. While there are tons of great high-end liquid liners that would get the job done guaranteed or your money back, who can afford to buy them monthly? I sure can't so I am always on the hunt for the best drug store liquid eyeliners. For the last six months, I have been trying out various products, so here are my opinions on those I purchased from worst to best. WORST NYC Liquid Eyeliner Walmart Price: $2.74 USD My Rating: 2/10 This eyeliner is cheap so I wasn't sure if it was going to work, but it did at first. The brush is long so you will need to be experienced in liquid liner to use this product. While the formula is thick, this liner is not waterproof, so you may have smudging or missing liner as the day goes on, And not to mention, do not get this in your eye when wet because it burns! How To Do Wednesday: Declutter Your Life!

Image
Well, it's 2015 and the year is already moving along. Was getting more organized one of your New Year's resolutions? If it was, have you started organizing or are you putting it off until Spring? If you are procrastinating, don't wait JUST START TODAY! Becoming an organized person is not something that happens over night; organization is a process. For those of you who have no idea where to start or if you are naturally disorganized, I am here to help! Make To-Do Lists . Use your phone, tablet, or a pen and paper to make lists for everything. Keep post-its and pens in various places in your home so that you can jot down things as you go. Your list can be as detailed as what you are going to do each hour, to as general as things that you need to accomplish some time in that week or even month. And I know, sometimes you forget to take a list when you need it but you are more likely to remember something after writing it down. Set a  Deadline . While you can take y...

Trial Tuesday: Methods for Quickly Ripening An Avocado

Image
For those of you who already don't know, I decided not to continue with Non-Fat Tuesday, so here is my very first post to Trial Tuesday! To recap, Trial Tuesday is me trying out different methods for questions that I have for the internet. Do you know what is the worst? When you plan to make guacamole and the avocados are not ripe enough when you need them to be. Let me just start by saying that I bought my avocados a week in advance and they still looked like the stock image above after 5 days. So, I went to the internet. I found two methods that were "guaranteed" to work so I chose one and used the other as a backup. Method One Brown Paper Bag Method Like bananas, avocados release gases that naturally ripen the fruit on its own. When you trap the gases, it is said to ripen the fruit faster. The method is simple, just put the avocado in the bag. After two days, my avocado looked like this: I had a brown spot! But it was still solid so I went to m...

Makeup Monday: Makeup Inventory 2015

Image
I am so excited for the new year every year because it just feels like the right time to organize! I recently came across the idea of doing a an annual makeup inventory and I wanted to share it with you. Why would you take inventory of your makeup? Because besides items that you use everyday like foundation, you could have expired makeup wasting space in your makeup storage system. This is also a great way to decide which products that you would like to repurchase and which ones (brands, colors, etc) that just don't work for you. After taking inventory and sorting out your makeup, you can always swap products that you don't care for with close friends (keep it sanitary). While a bright lipstick may not look good on you, it may be the perfect shade for your bestie! My Inventory Item Quantity Lipstick 10 Lip Gloss 12 Lip Stain/ Tint 8 Mascara 6 Fake Eyelashes 2 pairs Concealer 3 ...
